Boy

That’s what they call him.

Boy.

He’s 11.

I think he was 7 when his dad died.

I first met him when he was 8.

Boy is having lots of challenges. Most I can’t share here.

But after repeating grade 1 a few times, he’s finally in grade 2 and loves to learn.

He loves maths in particular.

I had quite a while with him while waiting for him mother and auntie to return home, so I was able to ask him a few questions about school and what would make school a bit easier for him.

So:

Having one uniform means he needs to wash it every night and let it dry before school which is often tricky.

His backpack is broken.

He has one pair of shoes, but the sole is detached.

He doesn’t have enough workbooks for the rest of the school year.

I asked him if he wants a calculator. And maths tutoring.

There are so many things about Boy’s life that we can’t fix.

But having him excited about school is the most “fertile”foundation for making a difference in his life.

If we are able to provide Boy with some of the basics that will give him some scaffolding for the next few years, I honestly believe that Boy’s life can radically change.

I have paid USD 70 so far. I would love help to cover that.

And then USD15 a month (about $25 Aussie) will pay for maths tutoring.

A uniform is USD25 and it would be great if we could buy him a sports one as well. (That will be cheaper)

He needs another pair of shoes as well. I have paid for school shoes, but he needs “home” shoes.

100% of what you give will be passed on to Kanary who I trust completely. She will then distribute the money as needed. We always receive photos of the items that the family buys when we help out, as proof that the money is being used correctly. We’ve never had any issues with this in the past. They are a very trustworthy family.

Of course I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

I would love for a group to take on “Boy” as their “little brother” and sponsor him through out his schooling. It’s honestly so little money that will then change his life.

And like I said, 100% of what you give will be spent on Boy….nothing is taken out for “costs” like big organisations & charities.
